Young Scholars’ Grow Big Dreams Celebration Dinner Set for March 24th

Young Scholars Liberty Partnerships Program (YSLPP), a collaborative program between Utica University and the Utica City School District (UCSD), will host its Grow Big Dreams Celebration Dinner on Tuesday, March 24th from 5 p.m.-7 p.m. in the Donohue Concourse at Utica University.

The event will feature a buffet dinner, cash bar, silent auction, raffles, and presentations by current Young Scholars. The keynote speaker will be Gabriela Girona, Esq. Girona is a class of 2003 Young Scholars graduate and the current Director of the Eviction Defense Program for Volunteer Lawyers Project of CNY.
“I would not be where I am today without the support of the Young Scholars program during my formative years, and I look forward to sharing some of my story with the community,” said Girona. “Hard work and perseverance opened many doors for me, but Young Scholars prepared me with the tools to walk through them.”
Established in 1993, YSLPP identifies talented and diverse students and works closely with them throughout their middle and high school education through year-round, comprehensive programming encompassing academic, social, and cultural enrichment. YSLPP aims to graduate college-ready or career-ready graduate students with a New York State Regents Diploma with Advanced Designation. Since the program’s inception, YSLPP has served more than 1,520 students and has a 94% graduation rate.

Young Scholars Liberty Partnerships Program (YSLPP) is a multi-year collaborative project established in 1993 with Utica University and the Utica City School District (UCSD). This program is designed by educational professionals to motivate diverse and talented students with the potential to stay in school, earn a New York State Regents Diploma with Advanced Designation, and pursue post-secondary education. Young Scholars students participate in a comprehensive program providing academic, social, and cultural enrichment.
