SUNY Polytechnic Institute’s newly named Communications and Media Design (CMD) program deals with all aspects of media content creation, including the planning, organizing, writing, and designing of information and communications. Previously known as the Communication and Information Design program (CID), this refreshed program name emphasizes content creation with advanced digital media tools in the fields of interactive media, application and site design, writing and editing, imaging, photography, animation, and video scripting and production.
The program studies how communicating, designing, and creating content in our increasingly saturated media environment is influenced by technological and societal developments, including how social media tools impact contemporary communication and content.
Students can take courses that are studio-based and can choose electives from concentrations in interactive media and game design, graphic design and communication, or digital imaging, video and animation.
What They’re Saying about SUNY Poly’s Communications and Media Design Program

I picked up several new tools and got a fresh look at the industry with how it has evolved. The professors are knowledgeable and always working to instill in their students the most up to date proficiencies. Of all the programs I have attended, CID has been the best so far!” – Ivan Popov (Class of ‘22)
“I really learned who I was and was able to gain valuable experience. That major just had so much variety.” – Alexandria Dodge (Class of ‘17)
