Volunteers Needed to Help Older Adults Stay Independent in Oneida County
Right now in Oneida County, older adults are waiting for a ride to a medical appointment. Some are wondering who will help clear their sidewalk after the next snowfall. Others are looking for connection, purpose, and a friendly face.
You can be the one that answers this call.
50 Forward Mohawk Valley’s Volunteer Center is actively seeking compassionate, community-minded individuals to step forward and serve. Our volunteers play a vital role in helping older adults remain active, independent, and connected throughout our region.
We currently have urgent needs for:
• Drivers for non-emergency medical transportation and transportation to 50 Forward centers
• Snow shovelers to assist older adult neighbors during the winter months
• Volunteers for our In-Home Financial Management program
• AARP Tax-Aide volunteers
• Instructors for health and wellness programs
• Office and event assistants
• Volunteers for Second Chance Tools and the New 2 U thrift store
• Garden club members, theater and music participants
• Community pop-up project volunteers and opportunities with local partners
Volunteering doesn’t just change someone else’s life, it changes yours, too. Studies show that volunteering reduces stress, builds meaningful connections, and creates a renewed sense of purpose. At 50 Forward, you will join a network of individuals who believe that strong communities start with neighbors helping neighbors.
Whether you have a few hours a month or want to become more deeply involved, there is a place for you here. To learn more about volunteer opportunities or to get started, visit 50forwardmv.org or call 315-223-3973.
