Stroke, Dementia, and Brain Injury: Understanding Causes, Care, and Recovery

MMRI’s second Seminar Series event of the year will be held on Thursday, March 19, 2026, at 6 p.m., located in MMRI’s auditorium. MMRI has partnered with Mohawk Valley Living to launch Health and Science Made Simple. Through this program, attendees engage in meaningful discussions with MMRI scientists and local medical experts, gaining deeper insight into groundbreaking research aimed at helping people live longer, healthier, and happier lives. This session will focus on understanding stroke, dementia, and brain injuries.

Attendees will learn how to recognize early warning signs, reduce risk, and support recovery. Participants will also gain valuable insight into diagnosis, treatment options, and long-term management strategies to help protect and improve brain health.

Health and Science Made Simple is a community-focused event that highlights today’s most vital medical topics. Each seminar provides guests with the opportunity to network and participate in a guided tour of the Institute’s state-of-the-art research facility. RSVP HERE to reserve your spot. In-person registration will be available if space allows, and a Zoom link will be provided.

The session will also highlight prevention, patient care, caregiver support, and recent advances in neuroscience and rehabilitation. Whether you are advancing your clinical knowledge or seeking to better support a loved one, this seminar offers valuable perspectives for all.

The discussion will begin with Dr. Nicholas Qandah, a board-certified neurosurgeon specializing in complex brain and spine conditions. This will be followed by Dr. Juleen Qandah, a board-certified emergency medicine physician and stroke director at Rome Health. Then, Dr. Satish Krishnamurthy, a board-certified neurosurgeon at CNY Brain and Spine and a professor at SUNY Polytechnic Institute, will speak. The discussion will be moderated by Dr. Maria Kontaridis. Together, this distinguished panel brings expertise in neurosurgery, emergency medicine, and biomedical research to provide a comprehensive perspective on brain health.

The event is made possible through the generous support of Excellus BlueCross BlueShield and Central New York Brain and Spine. Click HERE to learn more about MMRI!
