OUR FUTURE LOCATION AT 311 MAIN

As the rebirth of Utica continues to blossom, The Tailor and the Cook is proud and excited to announce a new collaboration!  The Tailor and the Cook will partner with Mohawk Valley Garden in their incredible renovation and development of 311 Main St. in Utica.   This historic building was most recently home to the beloved Children’s Museum.  In 2023, The Tailor and the Cook will be relocated to the first floor of the painstakingly renovated 311 Main St.  We are thrilled to be able to deliver The Tailor and the Cook to new heights, while remaining true to our Bagg’s Square roots.  The new and improved Tailor and the Cook will be open seven days a week for Happy Hour, Dinner Service, and Weekend Brunch!

The Tailor and the Cook has built its foundation on supporting local farmers and producers, and this will remain our cornerstone.  As always, you can be sure of:

  • Warm and comfortable service
  • Inspired and thoughtful cuisine
  • Hand crafted cocktails
  • An award-winning NYS Wine Program

The new space at 311 Main will be a considerably larger restaurant, with an extremely exciting expanded bar area.  The Bar/Gastropub at The Tailor and the Cook will feature Casual dining, small and large plates, along with some incredible sandwiches, and most definitely a local Burger!  Think comfort food, locally sourced… staples of T&C including the NYS Cheese Board, and The Butcher’s Board will be the building blocks of the bar menu, along with many more small plates featuring the best of our local farms and producers!

The beverage program will be focused on provocative and hand-crafted cocktails and local spirits.  Our commitment to Wines of NYS will only grow in our new space, and you can absolutely expect a greater selection of draft and bottled local and craft beers!

Though we can’t put a number on it yet, our Bar will seat upwards of 100 guests – first come, first served.  That’s right – no reservations in the Bar!

Of course, as you have come to expect from us – there will be a smaller, more formal dining room as well, offering a Chef’s Tasting Menu and the very finest food and service in the city.  We will always take reservations for the dining room.

“I am so excited for our new home at 311 Main.  I want to make sure everyone knows that while the restaurant is growing in size and stature, this will still be The Tailor and the Cook” said Tim Hardiman, the owner and founder.   Hardiman went on to say “We have built our brand on consistency and sourcing ingredients locally. None of that will change.”

This collaboration will partner The Tailor and the Cook with another staple in entertainment in Utica – Mohawk Valley Garden, which currently operates The Utica AUD, The Nexus Center, Aqua Vino, Babe’s at Harbor Point, Kookie’s Q, and 72 Tavern & Grill.  “The Renovation of the Children’s Museum at 311 Main is a huge undertaking, and an investment into Bagg’s Square and the City of Utica.  I can’t think of a better brand to partner with than The Tailor and the Cook” CEO Rob Esche said of the vision for the business.

Stay tuned for more information as renovations continue at 311 Main.  We are anticipating a grand opening of The New Tailor and the Cook later this year.
