The Neighborhood Center’s Behavioral Health Branch Offers Debriefing Support Following Sangertown Mall Shooting
In response to the recent tragic shooting at Sangertown Mall, The Neighborhood Center’s Behavioral Health Branch is offering informal debriefing support to provide emotional assistance and resources to those affected by this traumatic event.
The shooting, which occurred this past weekend, has left many community members feeling anxious, frightened, and uncertain. The Neighborhood Center recognizes the importance of mental health support in the aftermath of such incidents and is committed to helping individuals process their experiences in a safe and supportive environment.
The Neighborhood Center will be offering both group and individual sessions for anyone impacted, including mall employees, shoppers, first responders, and concerned residents. These sessions will provide a space for individuals to share their thoughts and emotions, learn coping strategies, and access additional mental health resources.
The debriefing sessions will be held on March 4, 2025 at 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the North Utica Community Center. Walk-ins are welcome, and no formal registration is required.
“Our hearts go out to everyone affected by this traumatic event,” said Sandra Soroka, Executive Director of The Neighborhood Center. “We want to ensure that those experiencing distress know they are not alone and have access to the mental health support they need.”
