The Master of Science program in Data Science and Analytics (MS DSA) prepares students to be productive contributors in many professions dealing with complex data, in particular those that relate to the ethical collection, exploration and preparation of multi-modal data, the design of analytics models to extract knowledge from data, and the effective communication of data analysis results to decision-making constituencies.

Our Master of Science in Data Science + Analytics (MS DSA) program is available in a hybrid format. We offer a mix of online and on-campus options based on the specialized courses that pique your interest. Dependent upon your academic interests, you may be able to complete this program 100% online. Our in-person classes are facilitated on our campus in Utica, NY. This 33-credit hour program is designed to prepare students to be productive contributors in various professions evaluating or managing complex data.

The MS DSA features flexible scheduling and courses that can be completed on a full-time (9-credits) or part-time basis (less than 9-credits). This program includes:

  • 18-credits of required core courses (6 courses) with online or on-campus delivery options
  • 12-credits of electives (4 courses) with online or on-campus delivery options, dependent on the courses you’re interested in pursuing
  • 3-credit capstone experience that can be completed as an internship, project, or thesis

Elective courses can be completed within one specialization, or students can pick and choose courses across different specialties to satisfy their needs and interests. Elective courses can be selected from specialized topic areas in mathematics, biology, computer science, design and digital humanities, crime analytics, health informatics, or business analytics and are selected with the support of an academic advisor.
