Brockport, New York-based Sunnking, an electronics recycling and resale services provider serving Buffalo, Rochester and Utica, New York, says it will remain open to provide recycling services as well as computer sales and service to clients in the area.
While New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo directed nonessential New York workers, whether employed by for-profit or nonprofit organizations, to stay home, the state has listed recycling as an “essential” business. This allows Sunnking to continue operating.
Sunnking employs nearly 100 people, however, the company says it has had to make changes to its business practices to comply with the state orders.
“Our teams have already adjusted how we operate in many ways to improve safety,” says Vice President Adam Shine. “We believe it makes sense to keep our operations running with several secure steps to safeguard not only the health and safety of our staff but our clients. While we’ve moved nonessential employees to remote work, we’re still 100 percent open for business, and pickups will continue.”
The company says it has taken a number of steps to safeguard its employees and the general public:
- postponing all electronics recycling events for the foreseeable future;
- suspending all incoming visitors to its Brockport headquarters office;
- suspending residential recycling at its facility for the foreseeable future;
- transitioning face-to-face customer meetings to online meetings;
- initiating a mandatory two-week quarantine for employees who feel sick; and
- sending all office staff who can work remotely home.
Sunnking also has donated masks to medical professionals in the area. To see a local news report on that donation, visit www.rochesterfirst.com/video/brockport-electronics-recycling-facility-donates-masks-to-hospitals/4424291/.
Sunnking was founded in 2000 and operates Responsible Recycling/Recycling Industry Operating Standard (R2/RIOS) certified electronics recycling, data destruction, and information technology asset disposition (ITAD) services facilities in Buffalo, Brockport and Syracuse, New York. The company serves residential, commercial and municipal customers.
