Sculpture Space invites the community to its 2025 CHAIRity Art Auction & Fundraising Gala, a weeklong celebration of art and generosity culminating in Utica’s “Party of the Century.”
The excitement begins with an online auction September 13–19, giving bidders an entire week to compete for extraordinary artwork and functional design pieces by local, national, and international artists. The auction concludes in person during the Wrap Party on Friday, September 19, from 5–8 PM at Sculpture Space, 12 Gates Street, Utica, NY.
Guests are encouraged to “Bid Often—Bid High” by setting strong maximum bids. All bidding is virtual, and participants should bring a fully charged smartphone or tablet to join the fun.
Honoring the Late John Loy
This year’s CHAIRity will feature a special room dedicated to the work of the late John Loy—renowned artist, educator, and one of Sculpture Space’s longtime patrons and supporters. Loy’s career spanned decades as a painter, printmaker, and teacher, including more than 30 years on the faculty of the Munson-Williams-Proctor Arts Institute School of Art. His work has been exhibited internationally and resides in collections across the world. Sculpture Space is proud to honor his legacy and enduring support with this dedicated showcase.
The Party of the Century
The Wrap Party on September 19 is designed for high energy and spirited competition. Guests will enjoy food, drink, and music by DJ Thomas D, all while bidding in real time.
For 2025, the auction will feature room-by-room closings, each ending at staggered times throughout the evening. This format keeps the energy building, the competition fierce, and the excitement flowing. Closing times will be posted online, so bidders can follow along whether they’re in the room or participating remotely.
And while attendance isn’t required to win, Sculpture Space reminds everyone: “It’s a hell of a lot more fun in person!”

CHAIRity is Sculpture Space’s largest annual fundraiser and a rare chance to acquire one-of-a-kind art. Proceeds sustain residencies, exhibitions, and community programs that have supported over 630 artists from 29 countries and 29 U.S. states since 1976.
