Prattย Munsonย students show off work in mixed media exhibitions atย Munson
Joinย Munsonย in celebrating the artistic accomplishments of our students at Prattย Munsonย College of Art and Design, who will have their work featured in two juried, mixed media exhibitions in the Museum of Art this monthโa First-Year Exhibition and a Sophomore Exhibition. A reception will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, April 25, in the Museumโs Root Court. Both exhibitions and the reception are free and open to the public.
โThese exhibitions highlight the creativity, rigor, and growth that define the Prattย Munsonย experience, and mark an important milestone as students prepare for the next stage of their artistic journey,โ said Suzanne Snyder, dean of Prattย Munson.
The First-Year Exhibition, on view April 10 through May 6 in the Prattย Munsonย Gallery, represents the culmination of a rigorous and immersive yearlong foundation program that prepares students with the essential skills to enter their specialized majors. The work selected displays the important practice of seeing, interdisciplinary research, experimentation, and a high level of critical inquiry. The Foundation program is rooted in individual and collaborative studio-based investigations that foster an inclusive and tight-knit community atย Munson.
The Sophomore Exhibition, on view April 17 through May 16 in the Museumโs Balcony Galleries, celebrates the achievement of our students who have completed the first two years of Pratt Instituteโs rigorous Bachelor of Fine Arts curriculum.ย This art is indicative of the intense efforts and creative fortitude put forth by the students in their respective areas of focus as well as the exploration of a wide range of diverse mediums. Under the guidance of Prattย Munsonโs accomplished faculty, these students are challenged to expand their aesthetic, visual, and conceptual capabilities and have met the challenge with impressive ingenuity. This exhibition also marks the completion of their time on the Utica campus and advances them to continue their path to successful art careers in Brooklyn, N.Y., at Pratt Instituteโs main campus.
The Prattย Munsonย Gallery is located on the second floor of Fountain Elms.
