Notre Dame Jr/Sr High School is proud to announce the appointment of two students from the Notre Dame Class of 2024 to the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD.  Isaiah Sexton, Notre Dame NJROTC Commanding Officer and Donald Snyder, Notre Dame NJROTC Executive Officer each received a personal phone call from Congressman Brandon Williams, R-22 notifying them of this prestigious honor.

“This is one of my greatest privileges as a member, having the ability to nominate individuals with the will to serve our country, become leaders for our community and nation, and I thank them for their dedication,” Williams said. “Congratulations, your community stands with you and honors your commitment.”  Sexton and Snyder also received nominations from Congressman Williams to the United States Military Academy at West Point.

Isaiah Sexton, the son of Charles and Danielle Sexton, has been a cadet in the Notre Dame NJROTC unit for four years.  Isaiah plans to pursue his dream of becoming a Naval Judge Advocate General (JAG). Isaiah’s mother, Danielle Sexton said “We couldn’t be more thrilled for Isaiah and his dream to go to the Naval Academy. We are truly grateful for the leadership and support from the Notre Dame teachers and staff that laid the foundation to set him on this life path.”

Donald Snyder is the son of John Snyder, ND ‘91 and Renee’ Carlson Snyder, ND ’91.  Donald has also been a cadet in the NJROTC unit for four years.  He plans to study nuclear engineering at Annapolis.  John Snyder, Donald’s father said “we are incredibly proud that Donald’s commitment to education, fitness and leadership have led to his appointment to the Naval Academy.  Sharing his dream with his good friend Isaiah only makes the accomplishment more special. We are thankful to the NJROTC leaders and everyone at Notre Dame that has prepared Donald for this next chapter in his life.”

It is rare to have more than one appointment to a military academy from the same congressional district and even more rare to have two from the same school.  With only an 8% acceptance rate to United States Naval Academy, this is a unique occurrence and is a testament of the academic excellence offered at Notre Dame Schools.  This also is an example of the rewards and benefits that come from the commitment required in being a member of the nationally recognized and award-winning NJROTC program at Notre Dame Jr/Sr High School.

Sexton and Snyder have accepted their appointments to the US Naval Academy and will report for the USNA Induction Day Class of 2028 on Thursday, June 27, 2024.  May God bless Isaiah and Donald on their achievements and commitment to serve our country.
