On Sunday, June 1, 2025, cancer survivors from the Mohawk Valley as well as their family and friends are invited to gather with employees, medical staff and volunteers from the Mohawk Valley Health System (MVHS) Cancer Center at the annual National Cancer Survivors Day Brunch. The brunch will take place at the Roselawn Banquet Facility, 446 Main Street, New York Mills, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Cancer survivors may attend free of charge and are encouraged to bring guests. The cost for guests is $25 per person.
Reservations are required by Friday, May 23, 2025, and can be made online at bit.ly/survivorsday-2025 or by calling 315-624-5705.
“Our employees look forward to the Survivors Day Celebration because it is a chance for us to be with our patients and see how well they are doing,” said Alicia DeTraglia, MD, physician with MVHS Oncology Department. “Cancer touches everyone and these patients have touched our lives in so many ways. We love getting together with them to celebrate their personal triumphs over cancer.”
The Survivors Day brunch, sponsored by MVHS, is celebrated in communities across the world. This day provides an opportunity for all people living with a history of cancer – including America’s 18 million cancer survivors – to connect with each other, celebrate milestones and recognize the healthcare providers, family and friends who have supported them along the way. Extravagant baskets, donated by MVHS employees, are raffled off at the brunch. Survivors from all over the region are invited to attend and do not need to have received services through MVHS in order to take part in this event.
National Cancer Survivors Day celebrates advances made in cancer research and treatment, recognizing those who are dedicated to caring for cancer patients. Cancer survivors are honored for their strength and courage while the contributions of their families, friends and healthcare providers are also recognized.
