The Mohawk Valley Health System (MVHS) is partnering with the Center for Donation and Transplant (CDT) of Albany to participate in month-long activities to celebrate National Donate Life Month. The celebration is held throughout the month of April and showcases the lifesaving benefits of organ and tissue donation and encourages New Yorkers to enroll in the New York State Donate Life Donor Registry.

In addition to displaying the Donate Life Flag at St. Luke’s, St. Elizabeth and Faxton Campuses, MVHS will also join CDT in participating in a number of different events celebrating Donate Life Month. The week of April 8-14 is Spirit Week. Staff across the organization will wear blue and green to bring awareness to organ donation.

MVHS employees and volunteers will make blankets for organ donor families. The blanket is a gift given to the family with the hope that it helps during a difficult time.

CDT is a non-profit organ procurement organization that facilitates organ and tissue donation at 44 hospitals in 30 counties in Upstate New York and Western Vermont. In addition to facilitating donation, CDT works with partner hospitals to educate the community about donation and the registry and share the lifesaving stories of those that have said “ves” to donation.
