MVHS Celebrates One Year of Ostomy Clinic

The Mohawk Valley Health System (MVHS) celebrated the one-year anniversary of its Ostomy Clinic on Thursday, July 9, 2026, recognizing the generosity of Ronald and Sheila Cuccaro, whose philanthropic support made the clinic possible, and honoring the patients and staff who have helped make the program a success.

Since opening one year ago, the MVHS Ostomy Clinic has provided specialized care, education and ongoing support to individuals living with ostomies throughout the Mohawk Valley. The clinic helps patients adjust to life after ostomy surgery by offering expert guidance that promotes independence, confidence and an improved quality of life.

“An ostomy can be a life-changing experience, and having access to specialized support can make all the difference,” said Tanya Brennen, RN, WCC, Ostomy Clinic nurse. “We are grateful to Ron and Sheila Cuccaro for their generosity and vision in helping establish this important resource for our community. Their support has allowed countless patients to receive the compassionate, individualized care they need to thrive.”

During the anniversary celebration, MVHS recognized the Cuccaros for their commitment to improving healthcare in the region and thanked the dedicated clinicians and staff whose expertise and compassion have helped patients successfully navigate life with an ostomy.

“I am thrilled to see the clinic come to fruition,” Ronald Cuccaro said. “It far surpasses my expectations. Knowing that it is making a significant difference for so many patients and that it is providing Tanya and her associates with more resources to deliver their valuable care to those in need is very rewarding.”

The MVHS Ostomy Clinic serves patients with new or existing ostomies by providing individualized education, appliance management, skin care and ongoing support. Referrals are not required, making it easier for patients and providers to access specialized care when it is needed most.

“The past year has demonstrated the tremendous impact this clinic has had on the lives of our patients,” said Brennen. “We look forward to continuing to provide expert care and support that empowers individuals to live well and independently.”

The MVHS Ostomy Clinic is located in the MVHS Medical Arts Building, 4401 Middle Settlement Road, New Hartford. To learn more or schedule an appointment, call 315-738-4901 or visit mvhealthsystem.org/ostomy-clinic.
