Revisit American folk rock classics with Munson’s Concert in the Court featuring Live from Laurel Canyon at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, May 10, in Downtown Utica.
“Live from Laurel Canyon” pays homage to the legendary songwriters of Laurel Canyon, the iconic neighborhood that was the epicenter of the folk rock revolution in the mid-1960s and ’70s and a haven for artists who redefined American pop music with their innovative sounds and groundbreaking creativity. Some of the transformative artists who called this vibrant community home include The Mamas and The Papas, The Byrds, Buffalo Springfield, James Taylor, Carole King, Joni Mitchell, Jackson, and the Eagles.
“Live from Laurel Canyon is a show that invites audiences to experience the spirit of Laurel Canyon, where some of the greatest artists of all time created music that continues to inspire,” said Bob Mortis, director of Performing Arts. “Through live performances and storytelling, attendees will be transported to a place and time that shaped the very foundation of American pop music.”
This immersive journey into the heart of a musical movement blends live performances with captivating stories behind the songs so visitors can discover the inspirations and narratives that fueled the look, sound, and attitude that forever changed the landscape of American pop music.
