During National Chemistry Week from Sunday, October 19, 2025, to Saturday, October 25, 2025, MMRI celebrates its chemists who are dedicated to inspiring the next generation. From the tiniest atom to complex biological systems, chemistry helps reveal how the building blocks of matter shape human life and drive medical innovation.

In an effort to spark curiosity and a love for science, MMRI researchers visited students at Jones Elementary and Watson Williams Elementary School in Utica, New York, and hosted children from Masonic Care Community’s campus daycare at the Institute. The visits provided students with the opportunity to witness a live chemistry demonstration, where they observed carbon dioxide form as dry ice reacted with water. Adding soap and food coloring transformed the experiment into a vibrant, interactive experience that brought chemistry to life.

Through outreach efforts like this, MMRI advances its mission to ignite curiosity and foster a lasting love of science in learners of all ages, from early childhood through college and beyond. Each interaction is designed to make science accessible, engaging and impactful for the next generation.
