Last Call to Nominate Veterans for Shower for a Soldier Bath Makeover Giveaway
New York Sash to select one local Veteran to receive a free bathroom makeover
July 4th is the final day to nominate a local Veteran for the New York Sash Shower for a Soldier Bath Makeover Giveaway. Over the past several months, New York Sash has been accepting nominations of deserving Veterans who would benefit from a safer and more accessible shower. Later this year, New York Sash will be awarding one local Veteran with a free accessible bathroom makeover.
Shower for a Soldier was founded in 2020 by New York Sash owner Scot Hayes, as a way to help local Veterans who struggle with lasting service-related injuries that make everyday tasks such as bathing difficult. To help remove that burden, New York Sash awards one Veteran with a free bathroom makeover, consisting of an accessible walk-in shower and safety accessories such as seats, grab bars and handheld fixtures.
Since the inception of Shower for a Soldier, New York Sash has proudly awarded three local Veterans with a free bathroom makeover, most recently to Tech Sergeant Michael Kingsley of Whitesboro. As the recipient, Kingsley received a free tub to shower conversion from New York Sash, complete with fixtures and safety accessories. Since receiving this bathroom makeover, Kingsley has been able to regain his bathing independence and can now safely use the shower without fear or hesitation.
Nomination round closes July 4th. To make a nomination visit newyorksash.com/soldier or pick up a nomination form at the New York Sash Idea & Design Center, 349 Oriskany Blvd. in Whitesboro.
