Indium Corporation has joined sixteen other Central New York manufacturers in coordination with the Manufacturers Association of Central New York (MACNY) to take a pledge to keep employees safe and the factories running.

The manufacturer’s pledge, supported by a peer-to-peer review process, utilizes the collective skills and knowledge of the founding organizations, including experience from those who have overcome previous infectious episodes, like the SARS outbreak. This process leverages safe practices and best practices from noted authorities, including the WHO, the CDC, OSHA, EPA, and local Departments of Health.

The Pledge is a powerful tool that helps create factual conditions upon which manufacturers make decisions. It includes these sections topics:

  • Controlling site traffic
  • Enhancing hygiene protocols
  • Social distancing to reduce density
  • Onsite emergency response
  • Communicating to employees, community, and customers

Ross Berntson, President and Chief Operating Officer states, “We believe manufacturers have a unique ability and responsibility to protect our people and keep our company running. Doing so ensures critical industries are supplied, thus minimizing the economic hardship on our communities. The actions associated with The Pledge enable us to do so safely. We hope this program also informs public officials on how to keep business running while maintaining a first priority of protecting our employees, families, and communities. As Utica’s Technology Company®, we are proud to manufacture materials for some of our country’s most urgent needs, such as ventilators and first responder networks.”
