GPO Federal Credit Union has awarded scholarships to three local high school seniors to help finance their college education. The New York Credit Union Association independently judged the applications that were submitted from credit unions all over New York State. The three scholarship winners, all GPO Federal Credit Union members, competed against nearly 875 credit union members from 66 credit unions across the state.  These students were chosen based on their outstanding academic and extracurricular achievements.  Congratulations to Anna Rossi, Audrey Williams and Andrew Soron!

 

GPO members who are graduating high school seniors have two scholarship opportunities: the GPO Federal Credit Union scholarship and the New York Credit Union Association scholarship program. The New York Credit Union Association’s awards range from $250 to $1,500 to be paid jointly to the student and educational institution. In addition, members will be eligible to win either a $1,500, $1,000 or $500 scholarship awarded through GPO.

$1,500 Scholarship Winner and New York Credit Union Association Scholarship Winner

  • Vernon Verona Sherril Central School Graduating Class of 2021
  • Attending Utica College in the Fall
  • Majoring in Nursing and playing Women’s Basketball to focus on a career in the medical field
  • Accomplishments include National Honor Society, National Technical Honor Society, three sport varsity athlete and captain, High Honor Roll all semesters, and an active member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church.

$1,000 Scholarship Winner

  • Dolgeville Central School Graduating Class of 2021
  • Attending SUNY Oswego in the Fall.
  • Majoring in History and Pre-Law to focus on a career as a Lawyer.
  • Accomplishments include Valedictorian Dolgeville Central School Class of 2021, Three sport athlete each year of High School, Girl Scout for 13 years and took part in the Community mask project (800 + masks made for school).

$500 Scholarship Winner

  • West Canada Valley Central School Graduating Class of 2021
  • Attending Springfield College in the Fall
  • Majoring in Physical Therapy
  • Accomplishments include National Honor Society, Boys State, Student Council, Soccer, Basketball, Baseball and Football.

ELIGIBILITY
The applicant must be a GPO member in good standing and meet all of the following criteria:

  • The member must be a college-bound high school senior at the time of application.
  • The member will be attending college for the first time in the fall of the next academic year.
  • The member will be enrolled in either a two- or four-year accredited educational institution.
  • The member agrees to use any scholarship funds awarded only at an accredited educational institution.
