The Central Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired (CABVI) recently welcomed Congressman John Mannion to its Syracuse headquarters for a tour of the organization’s manufacturing operations and rehabilitation services.

During his visit, Congressman Mannion met with CABVI leadership and employees to learn more about the organization’s mission of providing life-changing services for people who are blind or visually impaired. CABVI helps individuals achieve greater independence while creating meaningful employment opportunities through its manufacturing and service operations.

The tour showcased CABVI‘s Syracuse facility, including its production of nitrile gloves and other products supplied to federal and state agencies. These government partnerships play a critical role in supporting employment opportunities for people who are blind or visually impaired through the AbilityOne Program, one of the nation’s largest sources of employment for individuals with disabilities.

“Federal and state agencies are important customers for CABVI products, including the nitrile gloves made right here in Syracuse and Utica,” said Congressman Mannion. “I’ll make sure procurement through the AbilityOne Program continues to support CABVI and similar organizations, and that we always prioritize products made in America.”

Through its rehabilitation services, employment programs, and manufacturing operations, CABVI serves thousands of individuals across Central New York each year, empowering people who are blind or visually impaired to live, work, and thrive in their communities.
