Beacon Bank expands commercial banking into the Mohawk Valley with two seasoned professionals

In an effort to help support the ongoing economic expansion in the Mohawk Valley, Beacon Bank has expanded commercial banking into the region by adding two well-known local professionals with combined experience of more than 60 years.

“As the Mohawk Valley continues to gain momentum, it’s essential that local businesses have access to bankers who truly understand this market,” said James J. Morris IV, president of Beacon Bank’s region that includes the Mohawk Valley.

“Our newest additions bring first-hand knowledge of the region and its industries, and when paired with Beacon Bank’s expanded capabilities and locally driven decisions, that expertise creates a meaningful advantage for our commercial clients,” Morris said.

Alicia Brockway, senior business banker and town of Frankfort resident, has more than 35 years of experience in commercial banking. Previously, Brockway served as business banking regional manager at NBT Bank. In her role at Beacon Bank, she serves as a relationship manager responsible for delivering tailored financing solutions to smaller and mid‑sized businesses, emphasizing transparency, accountability and alignment across all business lines and products that deliver customized business solutions.

Brockway is deeply rooted in the Mohawk Valley and is an active leader in her community. She currently serves as board chair of Arc Herkimer, is a board and executive committee member of the Herkimer College Foundation and served as board president of Cedar Lake Golf & Country Club.

David Wood, senior commercial banking portfolio manager and a Utica resident, has more than 25 years of experience in financial services, portfolio management and client relationship support. Previously, Wood held senior leadership roles managing commercial banking and business banking teams at KeyBank. In his role at Beacon Bank, he partners closely with relationship managers to support underwriting, portfolio monitoring and delivering excellence in ongoing servicing for commercial banking clients.

Wood is actively involved in his communities, including service as co-director of the Utica Saint Patrick’s Day Parade where he supports one of the region’s largest annual events.

In all, eight of Beacon Bank’s 148 branches are in Central New York. They are in Utica, Rome (2), New Hartford (2), Whitesboro, West Winfield and Ilion.
