AmeriCU Credit Union has donated $25,000 to the Rome Area Chamber of Commerce’s Business Assistance Fund.
Created to help businesses through financial hardship because of COVID-19, the fund offers support to not only Chamber business members, but any Rome area business seeking assistance that meets the eligibility requirements.
“It was encouraging to see how ready and willing the Chamber was to act,” said Mike Manuele, Assistant Vice President of Financial Center Services for AmeriCU. “Whether it was the pandemic or even the flooding we experienced this past Summer, the Chamber helped businesses keep the lights on, pay their employees, and put food on their families’ tables.”
After Chamber officials announced that the need still existed, AmeriCU – founded and headquartered in Rome, and a proud member of the Rome Area Chamber of Commerce – decided to step in with a significant donation.
“Businesses should be able to ask for help from their community leaders when they need it, and as leaders, we should be there to help them,” said Ron Belle, AmeriCU President and CEO. “We sat down and talked about how we could support these businesses, the Rome area Chamber, and our community. The result was the Business Assistance Fund.”
“We are incredibly grateful to have AmeriCU as a member of our Chamber and as a member of our community, and their donation will go a long way toward supporting our local businesses,” said Bill Guglielmo, President of the Rome Area Chamber of Commerce.
