Munson is offering its first free Art Alive! Family Day of the season from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 11, Veterans Day. Kids and families can enjoy art-making activities in the Museum of Art’s Root Court and a performance by internationally celebrated magician and illusionist Jason Bishop at 11 a.m. in the Bank of Utica–Sinnott Family Auditorium followed by a question and answer session.
The Jason Bishop Show leaves families spellbound with a mesmerizing performance that combines his stunning illusions, award-winning sleight of hand, and dazzling sense of humor. His astonishing tricks, from close-up magic to mind-bending illusions, create a show that will amaze audiences of all ages. Known for his hit performances on Broadway, NBC’s “Today Show,” and CW’s “Masters of Illusion,” Bishop’s performances have led him from China to Paris and Hollywood to New York City, as well as every state in-between and over 40 countries on six continents. Stick around after the performance to ask questions, as long as you don’t ask “How’d you do that?,” because a magician never reveals his tricks.
“Art Alive! invites participants of all ages to engage deeply and personally with art through exceptional live performances and interactive experiences that foster a vibrant sense of community,” said Munson Director of Performing Arts Bob Mortis. “This program enhances accessibility to the arts, encouraging a shared exploration and appreciation that resonates beyond the gallery walls.”
Art Alive! Family Days at Munson are held during school breaks as a way of getting kids and their families connected and familiar with the Museum. This season will also feature three other acts, including:
- Dr. Kaboom: Thursday, Jan. 2 (Winter Break)
- Alex and the Kaleidoscope: Feb. 20 (February Break)
- Captain Nemo’s Adventure Academy: April 24 (Spring Break)
Funding for Art Alive! is provided by the MetLife Foundation, and by Rona Lucas, in memory of Roslyn and Irving Levine.
