On Wednesday, October 5, 2022, Krystal and Chris Curley, from Utica, New York, became the winners of the 25th annual Childrenโs Miracle Network (CMN) Hospitals $100,000 Miracle Drawing. Proceeds of the fundraiser benefit Maternal Child Services at the Mohawk Valley Health System (MVHS).
โEvery year for the past 20 years, my parents would buy me a ticket for the Miracle Drawing,โ said Curley, of her mother, Tricia Bonner. โFor the past five years, sheโs been buying one for our anniversary, which is October 5, and my husbandโs birthday, which is October 6. Weโve been married for five years.
โI like to support this raffle every year,โ said Bonner, who purchased the ticket from Chanatryโs Hometown Market. โItโs such a great cause.โ
On the evening of the drawing, the Curleys were so busy that they forgot to watch the drawing on live television. They soon found out they won through a number of texts and phone calls from friends and family who had been watching it on WKTV.
โWe always watch the drawing every single year,โ said Curley. โWe were just so busy this year!โ
Krystal and Chris are planning to spend some of their winnings on a family trip. โThe first thing we want to do is take our parents on vacation,โ said Curley. โThey deserve it. And weโre happy to pay it forward.โ
The Miracle Drawing has raised more than $5.4 million over the past 25 years for women and children at MVHS โ all of the money raised stays local. Partners of the $100,000 Miracle Drawing are WKTV NEWSChannel 2, AmeriCU Credit Union, GPO Federal Credit Union and PJ Green.
โWe are so grateful to everyone who supported this campaign,โ said Debra Wainwright, CMN coordinator for MVHS. โThrough the outpouring of generosity in our community, we sold all of the 4,300 available tickets. The funds raised from this effort will make a difference in the lives of many families being cared for here at MVHS.โ
