The Salvation Army of Utica Is Search of Holiday Meal Items To Fulfill Community Need

The Salvation Army is looking for as many do-gooders as possible.

On Friday, December 20th, The Salvation Army of Utica will host its annual Christmas food and toy distribution for 150 local families and individuals in need โ€“ including more than 400 children.

This distribution will provide a warm holiday meal, warm winter clothing, and presents under the Christmas tree for children to unwrap.

โ€œThe need for Salvation Army assistance in Utica has continued to increase due to current economic conditions, and we are working hard to make sure that everyone in our community can celebrate the holidays,โ€ said Captain Kelly Ross, Salvation Army of Utica Corps officer. โ€œAs always Utica residents continue to be incredibly generous, and we have received many donations of food, clothing, and toys, as well as funds in our Red Kettles.โ€

However, Captain Ross added, The Salvation Army is still in need of the fixings for 150 holiday meals.

โ€œWhether itโ€™s a turkey or chicken, sides like potatoes and other vegetables, desserts, or the whole meal, we need the communityโ€™s help to make sure we fulfill our mission of Doing the Most Good here in Utica,โ€ she said. โ€œMonetary or gift card donations would also help us purchase the needed items.โ€

Donations can be dropped off at The Salvation Army of Uticaโ€™s 14 Clinton Place address before December 20th between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. For more information on what and how to donate, please call (347) 276-6647.
