The Arc, Oneida-Lewis Chapter is holding a capital campaign called “Raise the Roof” in hopes of generating enough donations to help purchase a new roof at its Progress Industries building located on Forest Avenue in Lowville.
Progress Industries is The Arc’s business division, providing employment opportunities and all-inclusive working environments for people with developmental disabilities and non-disabled workers through contracted work with local and national companies. The roof on this building has weathered many north country winters over the years and needs replacement. This project’s size and scope are significant, which is why they’re reaching out for help.
The Arc has procured a $25,000 matching grant from the Cloudsplitter Foundation for this campaign, but needs to raise an additional $25,000 to secure those funds. They’re asking people and businesses in the community to donate to this worthy project by sending a check made payable to The Friends of The Arc Foundation, 245 Genesee Street, Utica, NY 13501, or by giving online at www.thearcolc.org. No gift is too small, and all funds raised during this campaign are directly applied to the project, which benefits our community.
The primary purpose of the Cloudsplitter Foundation is to improve the environment, both physical and cultural, in the Adirondacks and to make life easier, healthier, and more rewarding for the people who live there. While over 70% of the Foundation’s grants go to institutions in the Adirondacks, their secondary mission, to the extent that funds are available, is to aid other organizations dedicated to humanitarian causes, wilderness preservation, protecting civil liberties, and cultural development.
