American Cancer Society Men Wear Pink of Utica is working to end breast cancer as we know it, for everyone, by hosting the Second Annual Riders Wear Pink bicycle ride on Sunday, October 1. Riders will meet at the 7 Hamlets Brewing Company (26 Seymour Lane in Westmoreland) and take one of two routes – a 50-mile scenic route from Westmoreland to Sylvan Beach and back starting at 9:30 a.m. or a 20-mile loop starting at 10:45.

Men Wear Pink Ambassadors Israel Acosta of M & T Bank and Eddie Barone of First Source Federal Credit Union are co-hosting this event, which looks to raise $10,000 to support the breast cancer initiatives of the American Cancer Society.

“This ride will be fun and exciting and, more importantly, will raise much needed funds to support those facing a breast cancer diagnosis,” noted Barone. “Through education, research, and patient support, we can help lessen the burden on breast cancer patients and their families.”

All riders will enjoy food and beverages, have a chance to win door prizes, and celebrate afterwards in a gathering featuring live entertainment provided by Isaac French! The post-ride celebration is scheduled to start at 12:30 p.m., and the public is encouraged to attend to support the riders, meet this year’s Utica Men Wear Pink Ambassadors, and enjoy 7 Hamlets Brewing Company’s Octoberfest.

There is a $50 registration fee for the ride, with all net proceeds benefitting the American Cancer Society’s Men Wear Pink campaign. Riders are also highly encouraged to fundraise, with prizes being given out for those reaching the $100 and $300 marks. Riders who reach the $300 milestone will receive an event cycling jersey and have the chance to win other prizes like bike apparel and gear.
