Oneida County & City of Rome Utilizing the Community Foundation to Provide Relief to Residents Impacted by Tornado
County Executive Anthony J. Picente Jr. and Rome Mayor Jeffrey Lanigan announced today that applications are now being accepted for the Rome Victim Recovery Fund that is being distributed through the Community Foundation of Herkimer & Oneida Counties.
Rome residents who were impacted by the July 16, 2024 tornado, and do not qualify for government assistance services, will be eligible to receive up to $5,000 to utilize for the following, but not limited to:
- Insurance deductibles
- Electrical hook-ups
- Securing homes
- Relocation costs
- Moderate repairs
- Tree removal
- Dumpster rentals
A phone bank operated by Oneida County is now available 8:30 a.m. 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday to take applications. The number to call is 315-798-5206.
Oneida County has contributed $1 million to the fund and an additional $175,000 has been raised by the Community Foundation so far. The United Way is also a partner in the process. Those interested in donating to the fund can do so here.
