To provide new insight for navigating the COVID-19 pandemic based on personal experience from New York City, Quanterion Solutions is hosting a free, live webinar presentation titled “COVID-19 Lessons Learned from the Epicenter” on Tuesday, July 21 at noon to 1 p.m.
The presenter is Dr. Mark Jarrett, Chief Quality Officer and Deputy Chief Medical Officer for Northwell Health. Dr. Jarrett was uniquely positioned to witness all aspects of the city’s response to COVID-19, and the many challenges stemming from the pandemic included a peak of 3,600 inpatients with more than 800 on ventilators for a week in April 2020. Dr. Jarrett will cover lessons learned to date from the response to COVID-19 and will discuss three phases of the pandemic: 1) Responding to the Surge, 2) Recovery, and 3) Resurgence.
The Response Phase will discuss New York’s response structure, testing, personal protective equipment, staffing, bed surge capacity, and data management. Dr. Jarrett will then share insights from the Recovery Phase and methods to safeguard patients and staff and provide mental health support for staff during the surge and recovery. The current phase, Resurgence, will cover planning for anticipated small COVID-19 peaks in the summer, preparation in the event of a major resurgence, predictive models, and addressing confounding factors such as the impending hurricane season and the flu.
