The city of Utica is pleased to be a purple heart city. A new sign located on Whitesboro Street as you enter the City at Purple Heart park will now adorn its entrance.
Joe Fraccola, Commander, CNY Chapter #490, Military Order of the Purple Heart of the USA stated the following “The Purple Heart designation is one of the most prestigious honors a City can receive, and we are extremely grateful for this. Utica City has committed to remembering acts of military service of brave men and women. It is with much admiration, honor, and respect that we should salute all veterans and Purple Heart Recipients. All Utica residents should be proud to be designated a Purple Heart City and you will be seeing more Purple Heart City destinations signs placed throughout the City of Utica.”
Mayor Galime states, “Each year the city ensures the purple heart park is maintained as an honorable site to reflect upon the purple heart service members. With this new sign we continue our commitment to being a purple heart city.”
