In 1931, the Utica Postal Credit Union was formed and was based in the Federal Building in Utica. As time went by, other Federal employees wanted to take advantage of the financial services offered by the credit union; so in 1984, to better reflect a changing membership, the credit union’s name was changed to GPO, an acronym for “Government, Postal and Occupation.” Today, GPO is proud to be one of the area’s largest credit unions, serving more than 33,000 members by offering a full-range of financial services. GPO is headquartered in a newly remodeled administration building in New Hartford, and has branches in New Hartford, Utica, Oneida, Ilion, Dolgeville, Barneveld, and will be opening a new location soon in Rome.

You will see the recent renovations to the Middle Settlement Road building including a marketing production room, employee gym, and the creation of a community room available for GPO’s Members for meetings, financial workshops, and events. GPO Federal Credit Union dedicated the new Community Room in honor of John Prumo, former Credit Union President and CEO from 1977 to 2014.  GPO Federal Credit Union’s dedicated workforce is committed to improving the financial lives of its members and community for another 90 years.
