On Wednesday, January 15, 2020, the Mohawk Valley Health System (MVHS) Maternal Child Services received accreditation from the Centering Healthcare Institute as a CenteringPregnancy site.
CenteringPregnancy provides prenatal care in a group setting that includes an individual health check-up with additional time and attention. The group meets 10 times throughout their pregnancies and is a way for expecting parents to share their experiences with other members of the group.
“The CenteringPregnancy program has meant so much to so many expecting parents in our community,” said Jaime Kierpiec, RN. “Without a doubt, this accreditation has and will continue to improve the quality of care for growing families in our community.”
The certification acknowledges the facilitators as Centering experts for their patients and within their organizations. It serves as a quality measure that supports Centering practices with model fidelity, expansion and sustainability. When facilitators achieve this recognition, it reinforces the practice’s commitment to the high quality evidence-based Centering model of group care.
