Mohawk Valley Health System (MVHS) will host another Healthy Lifestyles Talk about living well with diabetes or prediabetes. CNY Diabetes Education Program director, Caroline Jacobus, MS, RN, CDES, and diabetes educator Rita Carey Rubin, MS, RD, CDCES, will present on diabetes education and prevention, followed by a question-and-answer session.
The talk will take place on Thursday, March 30, 2023, at 5 p.m. at the Wynn Hospital Construction Offices, 201 Lafayette Street, Utica (formerly the Utica National building). The presentation is free and open to the public.
Topics covered will include information about being diagnosed with diabetes and prediabetes and the nationally recognized education programs available at MVHS to help control and/or prevent diabetes. Refreshments will be served.
Prediabetes and diabetes are controllable and can be managed through a program of diet, exercise, blood glucose monitoring and if needed, medication. Once you are aware of the techniques involved, a self-management plan becomes part of your normal lifestyle. Some people with prediabetes may even be able to prevent a diagnosis of diabetes by making some changes in lifestyle.
