Did you know that cardiovascular disease is still the number one killer in the United States (The Association)? During the month of February, MMRI is making a point to observe American Heart Month.
During this American Heart Month, we are asking our valued supporters to join us in the fight against heart disease and other devastating ailments! Your support is crucial for advancing research that can save lives.
David Schneeweiss, MMRI’s chairman and past president of the board of directors, was directly impacted by the pacemaker, a small battery-powered device used to correct arrhythmias.
Since 1958, MMRI has been at the forefront of cutting-edge heart research. MMRI has focused on understanding both the genetic and environmental causes of cardiovascular disease, in hopes that it can find ways to better treat, and hopefully cure, these diseases. At MMRI, scientists research atherosclerosis, cardiometabolic disorders, congenital heart disease, thrombosis and many other forms of cardiovascular disease.
Each research breakthrough, from life-saving medications to advanced diagnostic tools, is a direct result of years of investigation. However, research is a long-game and takes time. It requires years of refinement, trials and approvals. While it may not always benefit us today, it will provide any one of us the tools necessary to help our children and their children, for generations to come.
