Last month Kiwanis Club of Utica held its 35th annual recognition banquet honoring 12 outstanding student athletes from six local colleges for their excellence on and off the field. Coaches, athletic directors, and student athletes from Hamilton College, HCCC, MVCC, SUNY Morrisville, SUNY Poly, and Utica University were in attendance.
Each college selected one male and one female student athlete to be recognized as their athletes of the year for excellence in their sport, academics, and for their involvement in the community.
This year, Kiwanis revealed a new award in collaboration with the Grimmer family and honored one student athlete with the inaugural Kevin Grimmer Award. This award was given to a student athlete who is dedicated to the spirit of athletic competition.
Kiwanis Club of Utica is an organization of volunteers dedicated to improving the world one child and one community at a time.
