SUNY Upstate Medical University College of Medicine (Upstate) has an Accelerated Scholars Program agreement with SUNY Poly that allows admitted SUNY Poly students seeking a Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts degree to be guaranteed acceptance into Upstate’s Doctor of Medicine (MD) program if they satisfy the following eligibility requirements:

Pre-College Eligibility Requirements

  • An excellent high school record with a minimum average of 90% or a 3.5 GPA.
  • Extra-curricular activities that clearly document experience in a healthcare setting and a commitment to community service or volunteer work.
  • An SAT test score of 1200 or better (combined Critical Reading & Mathematics) or ACT test score of 25 or better (Composite).

Among the advantages to the BS/MD program are SUNY Poly’s small class sizes. “The average class at SUNY Poly is just 18 students. This allows students to build stronger relationships with the faculty and their advisers.”

“This program is ideal for students who have demonstrated a passion for medicine through their activities and are committed to joining the healthcare field.”
