While the Utica Zoo is temporarily closed, the Zoo has been forced to postpone numerous on-grounds fundraising events. However, thanks to social media, the Utica Zoo will be holding an all-digital Eggstravaganza event, to hold the place of the annual event that had originally been scheduled for April 11th.
The Utica Zoo invites Zoo fans far and wide to tune in to Facebook and Instagram on April 11th-12th for the all-digital Eggstravaganza to celebrate the mighty Egg and the animals who bring their young into the world inside an egg. Join Utica Zoo Keepers for keeper talk videos about some of their egg laying animals, Zoo Educators for egg-themed biofact station videos, and plenty of crafts and activities, including a reverse egg hunt to get parents in on the fun. The digital Eggstravaganza event is sponsored by Empower Federal Credit Union.
“Our staff was very disappointed to have to postpone the on-grounds version of Eggstravaganza, so we knew we had to find a way to bring the annual event to our visitors in a digital form”, said Mark Simon, Visitor Experience and Marketing Manager for the Zoo. “We are so thankful for the abundance of ways we can bring our animals and the fun of Eggstravaganza to our visitors through social media. We know this won’t be quite the same as the event at the Zoo, but we hope it’s an opportunity for families to enjoy a weekend together courtesy of the Utica Zoo.”
The on-grounds event originally scheduled for April 11th has been postponed until July 18. Further details can be found at UticaZoo.org/Egg.
