As a business operates from day to day, many issues or problems surface that need to be resolved.  However, at the same time, the business does not have the staff or money to hire a consultant to analyze the problem, conduct hours of research and then develop a series of recommendations, including a timeline for any implementation.  Problem solved!

Working in cooperation with The Greater Utica Chamber of Commerce, Utica University is offering a no cost business research service utilizing MBA graduate students who are currently enrolled in this accredited program.  In their final capstone class, MBA students work with a local business to help solve a problem facing that firm.  In the past, MBA students have researched situations such as expanding the workforce, seeking out new markets or examining the possibilities of mergers and acquisitions.  Is your firm looking for grant money?  Should your business implement a day care center?  What is the best way for your firm to take advantage of social media?  These are just some of the examples of research projects that have been completed by the Utica University MBA students for local companies.

This is a full 16-week program, beginning on August 26, 2024.  Once a list of business firms, both profit and non-profit are identified, MBA students will contact the designated person at the organization and set up a meeting.  This is a free service with no expectation of employment after the research project is completed.  MBA students will prepare a client engagement letter, agree on a series of goals and objectives, conduct wide ranging research into a particular issue and prepare a literature review.  Once those services are completed, students will prepare a detailed research paper and make a presentation to the firm.  MBA students will be working under the direction of a university professor.

Upon completion of the project, the student will deliver a printed and electronic version of their final research to the organization.   Utica University respects the privacy of each firm involved in this project.  There are no public disclosures of any firms receiving the services.

If your firm is interested, or you have questions, let’s talk.  Assistant Professor Don Reese is the Director of the Utica University MBA program.  Please give him a call at 315.794.8085 or send an email to dgreese@utica.edu.  The deadline for finalizing the list of firms participating in this program is August 23, 2024.   This is a great opportunity!
