Hello, Greater Utica Chamber of Commerce members.
The American Red Cross is looking to expand our Blood Drive partnerships here in Utica in order to meet the needs of local patients. Currently there is a shortage of blood drive opportunities and a shortage of blood donors and the most effective way to combat this is through business partnerships. Hosting a blood drive is very easy and it starts with a few simple requirements.
The minimum requirements to host a blood drive on site are a clearable room that is at least 800 sq ft (temperature controlled, at least 4 electrical outlets), accessible by rolling cart (ramps or elevators if not on main floor), along with 6-8 tables and 15-20 chairs that we can arrange to help with donor flow.
Agreeing to host a blood drive is an incredible opportunity for your business to establish a meaningful connection to the community and reinforce that valuable connection in a very direct way. Did you know that every single blood transfusion is only possible because of volunteer blood donors? Blood products cannot be manufactured. Severe burns, traumatic injuries, cancer, complications to child birth and surgeries, blood disorders like Sickle Cell Disease – these are all treatable because of volunteer blood donors and the Red Cross requires more Blood Drive Partners in order to more consistently meet the needs of this community.
If you have a space that you think might qualify and an employee or customer base that would respond to the call-to-action by donating blood, please reach out to me as soon as possible. I can check the space and discuss all the incredible ways that the Red Cross can assist with donor recruitment. I’d love the opportunity to talk more, answer questions, and get a life-saving blood drive on the calendar for you, call me at 315-551-1768 or email me at billy.brill@redcross.org.
Thank you so much for your time and consideration.
