The Boilermaker Road Race will open a special registration period to the general public on Monday, Sept. 23, 2024, at 10 a.m., officials announced.

In celebration of Race Director Jim Stasaitis’ 72nd birthday, runners have the opportunity to register for either the 15K race presented by Excellus BlueCross BlueShield or the 5K race presented by Utica National. Both races are scheduled to take place on the morning of Sunday, July 13, 2025. The limited-time registration period, which ends at 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, September 29th, allows anyone interested in participating in the 2025 Boilermaker to do so at the lowest price available to the public.

“We had an early loyalty registration event last month that was open to anyone who registered for our 2024 Boilermaker,” Stasaitis said. “This limited-time offer gave everyone a chance to sign up for the races before registration opens early next year.”

In addition to a lower price than January’s registration period, this special registration period will allow runners to lock in their spots in the field. “Last year, we reached our caps for both events well before race day, and we’ve had many people contact us wanting to make sure they don’t get closed out of the 2025 event,” Stasaitis explained. “We chose this week as a fun way to celebrate my birthday, but this year, I’m giving our runners the gifts.”

Stasaitis also mentioned the importance of registering before the Sunday, Sept. 29th deadline. “This is the earliest we’ve ever opened up registration to the general public, but we won’t be opening registration again until January 2025,” he said. “So whether someone is signing up for the race or purchasing a spot in the race as a Christmas or birthday gift, once this sale is over, people will have to wait.”
